Rachel Althof, Reading Buddy!

Rachel Smith Althof moved to New York City from Columbus, Ohio to begin her studies at Teachers College. In addition to being a second-year Zankel Fellow Reading Buddy, she is currently a doctoral student and instructor in Art and Art Education program. She received her Bachelor of Art Education with Distinction and Masters of Art in Art Education from The Ohio State University in 2002 and 2004, respectively. Rachel has several years of experience teaching art in a variety of PK-12 settings, including urban public schools, a progressive independent school and cultural institutions. She is currently pursuing a Doctorate of Education in Art and Art Education at Teachers College. Her current research interests include contemporary art, digital media, photography, pre-service art teacher preparation and controversy and censorship in art and education. When not studying, Rachel enjoys exploring all the city has to offer with her husband Chris.
