Marissa Hanson, Reading Buddy!

Marissa Hanson holds a Bachelor’s of Music degree in vocal performance from New York University with a concentration in music theatre. She is currently pursuing a Masters degree in Music Education at Teachers College, Columbia University. In addition to her studies, Marissa has begun her fifth year of teaching at The Diller Quaile School of Music, in Manhattan, focusing on early childhood music education.  In summer 2008, she attended NYU for Level One Certification of the Kodaly Method, followed in 2009 by Dalcroze Studies with Ruth Alperson. In 2005, she was the winner of the NATS competition’s graduate/professional division, and switched her focus to jazz vocals. In 2006 and 2007 she taught at New York Summer Music Festival, including acting as assistant conductor to Brenda Earle’s jazz choir. Marissa performs throughout the city during the year and continues to work on new projects to advance her music. She is delighted to embark on her first year as a Reading Buddy!
